Amateur Radio also known as Ham Radio is a popular hobby enjoyed by millions around the world. It allows licensed amateurs to transmit on a set number of frequency and allow them to talk to other like minded individuals around the world.

Anyone can listen into amateur radio transmission and it is a useful way to get started into the hobby to hear things that we all talk about. To be able to transmit you will have to undertake a small exam to gain your license.

In the UK there are three types of license all with different conditions. To get into the hobby you will need to do you Foundation license. This will be the first step to get into the hobby.
